You Can Still Hire a Skip Under Current Lockdown Rules
Wellington Waste Management are continuing to operate in accordance with government guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re being extremely diligent with our hygiene and safety measures to ensure our service can help reduce the spread of the virus and give our customers peace of mind.
Is It Safe to Hire a Skip at the Moment?
A lot of people have been using lockdown as time to catch up with projects on their property such as DIY renovations, gardening or clearing out spaces. These projects are great ways to keep a productive routine going through the pandemic but they can involve large amounts of waste. Going to the dump would involve several trips to and from your house which would be time-consuming and increase the risk of coronavirus transmissions occurring.
At a time when government advice is to stay at home, the best and safest way to get rid of all the waste is to hire a skip. On delivery and collection, we are taking precautions to minimise physical contact and enhance hygiene measures. We ask our customers to join us in paying particular attention to hygiene and safety during the pandemic.
It is important to know that waste which has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 should not be handled within 48 hours. Special arrangements need to be made for the collection of this type of waste.
How to Order a Skip
Our skips are suitable for most non-hazardous items and a list of examples can be found here. We also prioritise recycling and focus on minimising our carbon footprint when handling your waste. If you have any hazardous items, such as the ones listed, please contact us and we be able to advise you regarding their disposal.
The pandemic has not been affecting the availability of our skips so there is no need to worry about any unexpected delays or long waiting lists. The usual term of hire is up to 14 days, though this can be extended if necessary, and our skip size guide is available here. To book a skip from us, simply call 01823 664628 or use the quote generator on our homepage.
Since Thursday 5th November 2020, our operating hours are as follows: The office is open from 08:00-17:00, while the weighbridge and transfer station are open from 8:30-15:30.
